Appointments
The assessment process Dr. Bryant provides involves five components: An interview, several hours of face-to-face testing, additional paperwork completion, report preparation, and a final session during which test results are shared with clients (and if applicable, parents). The interview and face-to-face testing are scheduled in either a long, single day (9:30-4:30, with planned breaks throughout), or two mornings in a row. Additional paperwork will be provided at the time of testing, completed at home, and returned via US mail. Report preparation usually takes several weeks, and when completion can be anticipated, you will be contacted to schedule the final, online session, which the HIPAA-compliant application DoxyMe is used to facilitate. You will need an internet connection and a computer (NOT just a phone or a tablet) for the session. After that online session, you will receive several copies of the prepared report via US Mail. (Please DO keep a copy in a safe place for future use!!)
Please make appointments by calling 503-655-3505. Be aware that schedules do fill up, and the first available appointment may be several weeks (or even months) in the future. For this reason, should you need to CANCEL or CHANGE an appointment, please DO let Dr. Bryant now as soon as possible.
Costs
The cost of the assessment will depend on the age of the person being tested (ages 12 through adult), the questions being asked, and the overall length of the process. You will be given a firm cost when you make your appointment, which will likely range from $2500-$3000. This will cover the ENTIRE assessment process, as described above. Payment (via credit/debit card or check) is due at the time of the initial interview session. There will be no additional charges, unless you or your legal representative requests additional services AFTER the evaluation is complete. This could include records requests, extra meetings or consultations, legal matters, etc., though these extra services are rarely needed.
Insurance
Insurance may or may not cover the types of evaluation Dr. Bryant provides. Specifically, most insurances do not cover assessments where a learning disability (e.g., Dyslexia) is the sole or primary diagnostic question. Also, Dr. Bryant is not a preferred provider for any insurance network. For these reasons, insurance is not accepted for payment. However, if your insurance does cover out of network providers AND there is a diagnosis that is covered, Dr. Bryant does have a billing agency that will bill your insurance for possible partial reimbursement, after the entire assessment process is complete. Bring your insurance card(s) to the initial interview appointment, if you would like Dr. Bryant to request insurance reimbursement for you.
The 2022 "No Surprises Act" provides additional protections from unexpected costs due to receiving health care services from out of network providers. As Dr. Bryant is a sole proprietor that is not on ANY insurance networks, ALL clients who wish have their insurance billed WILL be using their out of network benefits -- which may mean there is less coverage of assessment services and greater out of pocket cost. There may also be different rules for what services are covered, how deductibles are calculated, etc. For more information about the 2022 No Surprises Act, please see https://www.cms.gov/files/document/model-disclosure-notice-patient-protections-against-surprise-billing-providers-facilities-health.pdf .
